When there are no suitable buildings or trees available on which to install a Bat box, the Eco Rocket box is the perfect solution. The box can be mounted on a pole (supplied with a 4m aluminium pole) enabling you to position the box wherever you wish, either in a bat corridor along hedgerows, or in an unshaded area to get maximum solar gain.
This bat box is made from OSB (waste wood chips and flakes that have been compressed), providing the bats with a rough surface with plenty of grip, ideal for moving around, hanging and roosting.
It comes with a choice of roosting chamber configurations – crevice, ideal for pipistrelle bats or cavity, for roosting bats such as Brown Long-Eared bats and Noctules.
The crevice box has two concentric 18mm wide internal crevices, which run around all four sides of the box whilst the cavity box has a single 45mm wide cavity running round the box. In both cases, bats can move from one side of the box to the other as desired to select their preferred micro-climate without leaving the box.
A weatherproof external shell made from UV stabilised recycled plastic provides protection to the timber bat box. The shell fits together utilising a tab system so there are no exposed fixings which will rust or corrode.
Before erecting the pole, it is suggested you may wish to consult a builder or structural engineer as ground conditions vary. To securely install the Rocket Bat Box usually necessitates about 1m of the pole to be buried.
Please note: All bats are protected by law. You should only open a bat box to check it if you hold an appropriate license.
The Rocket bat box and pole will be despatched in separate packages.
