The SteakAger Original is an innovative and cost effective way of dry ageing and tenderising different cuts of beef in your own home. Ideal for keen home chefs, BBQ enthusiasts and foodies who appreciate restaurant quality mature, tender beef with added flavour.
Designed to fit in a large refrigerator or beer fridge, the dry ageing smart box is made from high density food grade cutting board material and food grade stainless steel. Powered by a 12 volt DC power pack which can be plugged into a wall socket by feeding the thin ribbon cable through the hinged side of the fridge door, it duplicates the environment of commercial walk in dry ageing fridges.
There are two fans, one for circulation and the other, an exhaust fan with humidistat to control humidity which operates when humidity is above 80%. A Himalayan Salt sachet adds flavour and aids the drying process, whilst a germicidal UVC lamp kills bacteria and, together with a washable, active carbon filter, eliminates odours.
The compact unit will hold between 5.5kg and 6.5kg beef. Larger cuts of beef can take anywhere between 21 and 70 days to age, depending on preference whilst smaller cuts will take between 7 and 10 days.
A free SteakAger app is available to download on your mobile phone. You can then link wirelessly to your SteakAger to monitor and control the ageing process. It will notify you when cuts are ready and alert you if there is a malfunction or power cut. You can also see your meat as it ages through the SteakAger’s viewing window.
