No need to guess the amount of fuel required for your Pit Barrel Cooker with this purpose built Chimney Starter. Simply fill the charcoal basket to the top with charcoal or briquettes then place a quarter of the fuel in the Chimney Starter (around 40 briquettes for the PBC and 20 for the PBJ).
Place the charcoal basket in the bottom of the Pit Barrel. Set the grill grate in the cooker and place a piece of the charcoal bag or some crumpled newspaper drizzled with some cooking oil on the grate and light then place the Chimney Starter on top.
Allow the coals to burn for approximately 12 minutes then remove the grate and distribute the coals from the Chimney Starter over the unlit coals in the charcoal basket.
You are now ready to start cooking, without using any lighter fluid or firestarters which would taint the flavour of the food.
The Chimney starter has a heat shield to protect your hand with a cool touch handle and fits within the size and shape of any Pit Barrel.
