A large black weathervane depicting a stunning eagle made from 1.5mm thick steel which has been treated with a metal phosphate solution. This increases the adhesiveness of paint and prevents corrosion. It has then been powder coated with a polyester paint for a sleek finish.
The polyester paint has a high solid content and therefore adds strength, making the weathervane less susceptible to scratching and chemical cleaning. It is also UV stabilised.
This weathervane of an eagle with his talons outstretched and wings back as he steadies himself to land provides an impressive picture of this great bird. These are large, powerfully built birds of prey with hooked beaks, powerful talons and acute eyesight, all attributes that make them skilled hunters.
An exceptionally common symbol in heraldry, eagles are considered the “King of Birds” and are symbolic for an empire whilst the lion is the “King of Beasts” and represents a kingdom.
